WaterSmart Water Crystals for use with Trees and Shrubs
Dig a planting hole in the spot where you want to place the plant
into your garden. Landscaping experts recommend the hole should
be 50% wider and deeper than the size of the plant ball or container.
Mix WaterSmart Crystals into a portion of the removed soil as uniformly
as possible, either as dry Crystals or, preferably as pre-swelled,
expanded gel.
Treat the soil removed from the planting hole with Water Crystals
at a rate of 1.5 tsp. dry Crystals per gallon of soil, or 2 cups
of expanded gel per gallon of soil.
Reduce these rates by 50% for heavy soil; increase them by 50%
for very porous or sandy soil.
Place a portion of the treated soil into the bottom of the hole,
set the plant in place, and fill the remaining treated soil in around
the sides of the plant.
The top 1-2 inches of the planting hole must be filled with untreated
soil.
Thoroughly water to fully hydrate the WaterSmart Water
Crystals.
